It was the ideal vehicle to show off to my affluent lawyer friend because it was the newest model of BMW’s actual range-topper.

BMW calls this vehicle a “gran coupé,” and it’s packed with little features that hint at its exclusivity and distinctiveness. Alpina’s unique 21-inch 20-spoke wheels, blue brake calipers, integrated exhaust tips, and dark metallic green paint all have a story to tell and have been carefully chosen.
Thankfully, the BMW design team’s “more is more” mentality doesn’t seem to have applied to this vehicle. Reciting the sacred dictum “bigger is better,” they continue to construct grilles, adding creases or vents to bodywork only for aesthetic purposes. “Back in my day, BMW designs were so much better,” I’ve heard myself say, which is another indicator that I’m becoming older. In the dark, the deep, glossy paint is almost black, yet when the sun hits it just so, it glows a vivid green. The proportions are perfect, the wheels have been pushed as far into the corners of the car as possible, and every tiny detail works together to give the B8 a majestic, regal appearance. I was surprised to learn that some comforts, such as massaging or ventilated seats, are optional for a high-end grand touring vehicle at this price, but BMW offers them if desired. Wireless The head-up display neatly shows information like navigation instructions via smartphone mirroring, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. The parking camera shows where the doors are to save you from colliding with someone else’s vehicle. Engine and Performance
The New 2027 Series 8’s amazing 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 engine drives all four wheels with an eight-speed automated gearbox, producing 612 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. BMW boasts that the speed from zero to 100 km/h is a lightning-fast 3.4 seconds. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an engine this capable and smooth.
Every component of the B8 works in unison to deliver a flawless performance, never missing a beat. It seems incredibly refined, yet it is also unrelenting and lavish in its pace delivery. V8s will always be beautiful, but Alpina has worked her magic to make this one sound like it should be a Grammy winner. New 2027 BMW Series 8 Fuel Economy
This Series 8 is based on the BMW M850i, which has a combined fuel economy rating of 12.0, 9.7, and 14.0 L/100 km in the city and highway, respectively. For a car like this, it doesn’t really matter. Even though this Alpina model isn’t officially certified, I was still averaging a good 12.3 L/100 km in my roughly 600 miles of mixed driving. It goes without saying that you must fill its tank with the best fuel available.

Standard safety features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and frontal collision warning with pedestrian identification. The $2,500 Advanced Driver help package includes adaptive cruise control with traffic jam help, a surround-view monitor, a drive recorder that doubles as a dashcam in an accident, and a self-parking system.

The Series 8 would be perfect for someone who would want a Rolls-Royce or Bentley but believes those brands and the statements they make may be too costly. A Series 8 may be purchased for less money without notably compromising on quality or performance. Looking at it this way, the B8 seems like a terrific deal.
The New 2027 Series 8 has a starting price of $159,900, which includes taxes and an unavoidable $2,480 destination cost. It came to $179,130 before taxes, including my tester’s $16,750 in extras. The painstaking craftsmanship somehow justifies the price, even though some of those amenities (including a 360-degree top-down parking camera, heated seats, glass trim elements, traffic jam help, and more) should be standard on a car that begins at six figures.
